Computational Thinking Patterns |
Create a tree using genetic algorithms. Each tree has only 3 variables: height, branch angle and color. Using on these 3 you can create a surprising amount of things after breeding many generations. The top left tree is the one carried over from the previous generation, the other 3 are point mutations. Using the four buttons at the bottom select the tree you like and carry its traits to the next generation (red means that quadrant is selected). Make your own tree or try to make the plants in the other worksheet.Note: Be sure to let the set completely load before you make your selection to avoid glitches. You can see the current loading by looking at the pixel adjacent to the red one at the bottom left. A dark or light blue pixel to the right means it is still drawing the tree. You may switch between worksheets at any time and your progress is saved. If the program isn't drawing (check the pixel) press the left-most of the 4 buttons to select the current tree and redraw.
